Are We Able to Print Components as Strong as Injection Molded?—Comparing the Properties of 3D Printed and Injection Molded Components Made from ABS Thermoplastic

In this paper, we are focusing on comparing results obtained for polymer elements manufactured with injection molding and additive manufacturing techniques. The analysis was performed fused deposition modeling (FDM) single screw regards to the standards used in thermoplastics processing technology. We argue that cross-section structure of sample via FDM is key factor fabrication high-strength components dimensions samples have a strong influence mechanical properties. Large samples, 4 × 10 mm2, three perimeter layers 50% infill, lower strength than molded reference samples—less 60% strength. However, if reduce down 2 will be more durable, reaching up 110% tensile observed samples. case large increases number contour layers, leading an increase 97% value 11 layer printed can also improved by using values thickness deposited layers.
